Randy and Janina’s wedding

At long last, here is Randy and Janina's wedding.  They got married on a really nice day at the end of August. I was so happy that they asked me to be their photographer, especially when she told me that she'd like the bridal party pictures done at the farm where she grew up. The farm was everything I anticipated and more.

Some getting ready pictures:

She was absolutely beautiful.

Isn't this picture cool? She is chopped off on the left side of the frame in the same spot that she shows up in the mirror on the right side.

We headed out into the bright sunny Saturday to go meet the groom at the farm.

The picture above is one of my favorites from the whole day. It's all in the moments…

And here they are, the whole wedding party. I'm cautious to say this because I am a people person and love people no matter who or how many, but if a bride were to ask advice, I'd say, "Go with just one or two bridesmaids." Not just for the photographers sake, I can promise you that you'll never regret simplifying in that way.  I loved the size of this wedding party. Loved it. It was extra-meaningful because my brother Mark was the best man. How fun to see him celebrating his best friend Bucko and Janina's wedding with them. And you might recognize the guy on the end as the last groom, Glenn. There he is, happily married.

Fun shot I'm so glad I thought to grab.

One thing that Randy, or Bucko, told me at the beginning of pictures was that he wasn't a smiley guy. I had to laugh as I reviewed the pictures from the whole day on my computer. I guess maybe on his wedding day, he just couldn't help but smile.

Fun moment here…I asked them to kiss, so they obliged, and then Janina looked at me and asked earnestly, "Should we for a little longer?" Then it hit her what she said and she threw her head back and died laughing.  It was so so funny.

Mark had come to the wedding without his family because Heidi's niece was getting married, and Heidi stayed home for that wedding. At one point, Michelle noticed Mark over on the side with his phone and told me to go grab a quick photo of him texting his wife, look how cute, he's missing his family! So I ran and caught the moment.

And then I asked him if he was texting Heidi, and he said, "No I'm checking my fantasy baseball scores." Another good laugh. These people were a lot of fun.

I had them pose quick in front of her dad's potato stand. I didn't intentionally place them, but it's kind of neat how the letters spell out NOW POES. If only pose was spelled right.

Tina's angle. I'm so glad she grabbed this shot.

Randy's family was still sick of posing for me from the last wedding….

Joking or course. And they're joking of course as well. I love how all of the goofy ones ended up on the same side, and the other side of the family really wishes they weren't  affiliated with them.

I am so happy with the results that I've been getting from my flash. Yay!!

Janina chose wisely when she picked these two girls to be her right-hand people. They were wonderful.

This couple won the prize for most adorable couple. Besides Bucko and Janina of course.  Look how they match.

  • What a sweet post.

  • So fun to relive that day a little. Love the pics.

  • Brita – I noticed the half goofy family shot and half normal too:) Not sure what that was about – my siblings usually have NO problem with the goofy shot. Great pictures! I liked your comment about Bucko telling you he’s not smiley! He can try all he wants but his girl makes him smile:)

  • What fun pictures! Those two are such a cute couple!

  • Thanks for posting so many pictures of their special day. I enjoyed looking at them since we couldn’t be there. I think 2 attendants is very refreshing too.

  • love the post-kiss laughing photo, all genuine happiness. I’d rather have that, then a smooching picture!

  • I have looked at this post about 200 times! Love them! Thank you so much Brita! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • So glad, Janina. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  • These pictures bring tears to my eyes each time I look at them.

  • One of my favorite pictures is the one where Bucko and Janina are kneeling at the altar and you can see all the bench-fuls of people watching. It reminds me of a National Geographic picture for some reason.
